Governance
Board of Directors (BOD)
Here is how we run our operations
- The BOD meets at least monthly through Zoom to discuss operations, finances, planned events/activities, and strategic growth. We do meet in-person, if needed.
- As a volunteer-run organization, we implement our programs through time donated by our voluntary BOD, our community-based supporters, and by donations from local, community organizations and people living in the greater Austin community.
- We conduct fundraising from our community supporters, businesses, and key community-based organizations
- Each year, by end of April, we form a new BOD by soliciting nominations from our community members
- The BOD serves a one-year term
Membership
We do not require any formal, fee-based structure to be part of our organization. As a non-profit, our group is open to all Bangladesh-born residents living in Williamson, Travis and Hays counties. Of note, these three counties comprise the greater Austin area and is home to thousands of Americans of Bangladeshi descent.
Based on attendance in our past events, we anticipate that about 500 community members have supported our activities. We consider them as friends, supporters, or “members”, and tailor our activities to their needs. By email, we reach out to a select members for participation and donation, if needed. Our main outreach for participation is through our social media platforms – a Facebook page and a website.
